    Frequently asked questions

    Who governs movers?

Every established moving company is a member of the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM). CAM was created to ensure and regulate that all moving companies are registered and abide by a list of rules and regulations as a protocol of protection for the public.

How much does it cost to move?

This depends on the type of move. Factors to consider will be if the move is local or long distance, size of the home, and the number of men required for the move. These rates will vary either by the hour or distance. The advantage of Moonline is that we charge by the hour. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

    What is an onsite estimate?

An onsite estimate is a free estimate that Moonline can provide. One of our customer service representatives will visit your home and make an onsite accurate inventory of the items that need to be moved. These onsite estimates lead to a more accurate moving quote. Usually, it is done with larger types of moves. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

    Is the onsite estimate free?

Yes, onsite or any estimates are free, and the customer is under no obligation to accept the quote. You can also chat with us live online and book your local or long-distance moves. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

    When can you move me?

At Moonline we will move the customer on the dates agreed to between the customer and us. It is wise to plan for a major event in your life like this one. In some cases, we can move you on the same day, if we have the availability. When wanting to move at the end of the month or long distance we recommend booking 30 days in advance. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

When will I get my belongings when moving long distance?

A predetermined transit time guide will be established for you to plan their itinerary. This is pertaining to long distance moves, but the driver will let you know at the beginning of the move. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

Do you pack and / or supply material & boxes?

Yes, we can provide a complete package for both packing and unpacking. Boxes included: 1 bedroom, all boxes are free / 2 bedroom 10 boxes free, 3 bedroom 15 boxes free. We give the customer the benefit of choosing the type of service they require. Packing material and supplies can be purchased and delivered for a fee if needed. For peace of mind, please contact us for more information.

    Will my move be insured?

In the transporting of household goods, the customer has options as to their valuation protection needs.

    • Minimal protection‚ whereby the shipment is set at a Released Value of $0 .60 per lb. per item, which is no cost to the customer.
    • Replacement Value‚ customer declares the value subject to Mr. Maple and we will calculate the deductible for items to be replaced.
    • Example: $10.00 per lb. x the weight of the shipment (12,000 lb. x $10.00 Replacement Valuation is 120,000 @ the cost of .80 per $100.00 valuation = $960.00 charge to customer). You also have options for sets and pairs.

How long before my move should I begin planning?

Start planning for your move 6 weeks before your move date. You should begin looking for a moving company 4-8 weeks before you move, depending on distance of moving and the size of your home. This way you can browse and compare with different companies without being pressured.

Your plants are delicate creatures. The stress of moving and the temperature outside may affect them. Not all moving companies will take responsibility for maintaining the welfare of plants. We suggest that you bring your plants in your own personal vehicle to avoid any damage.

What items should I move myself?

There are certain items that you should transport yourself during your move. Some of these include:

    • Plants
    • Jewelry
    • Antiques
    • Computers/Electronics
    • Family Heirlooms
    • Fragile items
What should I do with my pets on moving day?

Your pets may become stressed on moving day. The doors of the house will also be opened and closed frequently throughout the day. We suggest that you find somewhere safe and fun for them to stay on moving day.

My moving date changed. What should I do?

If your moving date changes, you should inform us as soon as you know about any change in date or changes relating to the move.

When is the best time to move?

Moving companies are busiest during the end of the month and specifically May 15 through September 15. This is the standard for all professional movers. If you choose to move outside the summer season, you will likely be granted more flexibility in your move dates. When scheduling your move, try to be flexible with your move dates. Remember, by staying flexible, you can make your move a little less stressful.

How should I pay and what are the payment methods?

All charges must be paid once the move is completed. Payments can be made using cash, interact transfer or credit cards. If your employer or corporation is paying for your move, the employer may pre-arrange to be billed via invoice. Discuss the various payment options by calling us today and have your method of payment established prior to the load day to avoid any unnecessary issues or problems on move day.
